Poetry

Today in grad school I wrote two poems. The poems were about two of my favorite people in the world. I don't get to see either of them very often these days and I miss both of them all the time. I decided to write this blog for them and to share some more pictures.

One poem I wrote was for my sister. Elyse, you will always be the person I spy on most on facebook when I don't get to talk to you on the phone. I love laughing with you about pointless things and catching up as if time holds still the day we played in make believe worlds for weeks at a time. This part is for you.

Remember when we used to play that game?
We would run swinging at each other
and SMACK!
then hold on tight?
Then we would swing away and on the next beat
SMACK!
Hold on once more
I always knew no matter how long
I would come swinging back to you
Sometimes it's hard to hold on for long
But I'm still swinging
waiting for that
SMACK

The second poem is for my boyfriend. Nathan, even living all the way in Texas I get to see you every day and do things like watch The Office with my mom and vent to you about my days and watch you sing and dance to 80's music. You always know how to calm me down when I get upset and surprise the crap out of me when I least expect it. This is for you.

Most of the time
I visit you in a tiny window
But if I close my eyes
I can pretend you're right next to me
Which makes it all that much sweeter
When you are

Since that last picture also includes another of my favorite people in the world, I will write here and now a small poem for you, Olga.

Olga Olga Olga
I miss you like crazy
I want to make face cake

Goodnight friends.
