Procrastination Motivation
Dear friends,
The message of this weekend is: sometimes not informing yourself of the mountains and mountains of work you must get done in 3 short days is a good thing.
First I will the share the list of things I need to complete before Monday

1 ten-page research paper
1 45-minute activity
1 15-minute power point presentation
1 activity hand out
1 activity protocol
Many activity preparation
1 fully prepared Jessica for dressing competency exam

Now, to put this all in perspective, I actually had not started on any of those things on that list until Friday afternoon. Since then I have pretty much kicked ass. 5/8 things on that list can be checked off with a 95% completion rate. That's some procrastination motivation for you! Ye-ah for experience writing research papers and good partners!
Now I will write about the things I did interspersed with said work.
first off: rice balls!

first off: rice balls!
These delicious delicacies were introduced to me by my half-Asian other, Casey Lee. They were particularly fun to make because I got so fed up with having rice that was not sticky nor Asian, that I went out and purchased pretty much the stickiest rice one can purchase. And I cooked it in a rice pot and almost immediately after tried to get myself, Jonathan and Griffin to roll them into balls with our hands. Needless to say there was immediately exclamations of "ow!" "ooow! expletive!" and such things. Eventually after Jonathan decided on the secret shape (I think a cube was decided) then these delicious little creatures came to life, were given some seaweed pants and nice little seasoning hair. They were extremely adorable and here are friends Jonathan and Griffin showing the creations off.
Last night Jonathan informed me that he intended to acquire some liquid resin and pour it into glass Christmas ornaments to make contact juggling balls. Now, all the research essays in the world could not stop me from being in on the fun. So after spreading newspaper all over the floor, reading about complicated ratios and all the risks involved in breathing, touching or absorbing the chemicals, we began the adventure.

All materials and ingredients laid out

liquid enzyme is added to catalyze a reaction and begin hardening

dye is added

solution is mixed and poured

ornament is filled and set aside

After we managed to fill 3 ornaments we decided to have fun with the left over and attempt to suspend a penny in the liquid so we would have a fun-looking plastic gob with a penny inside once it dried. We decided to put the concoction in a plastic shot glass. We put the stuff to dry on a shelf in my room and when I went back to it several hours later this is what I found:

The resin had basically either melted or completely dissolved the plastic. It has since dissolved even further and I just left it that way because I don't know what else to do. I also breathed in so much plastic fumes after shutting my door, I had to move the stuff somewhere else to dry.
Pretty much, it's way cool to play with dangerous stuff.
The end for now!

most unfortunately we did not add enough catalyst to cure the resin. I wonder how else we might make it Very Hot.
